Why does INPM require a referral?

A referral lets your primary care physician share your history, the reason for the visit and any recent tests with our clinicians. It is also how many insurance plans approve a visit to a specialist.

02

Do HMO plans need an extra approval?

Many HMO plans require your medical group to authorize a visit to a specialist. Your primary care physician’s office can tell you whether your plan needs this step.

03

How do I know the referral was received?

Call our office at (707) 980-6636 after your doctor sends it. Our staff can confirm that the referral arrived and schedule your appointment.
